Stop Doing Me and Do God

By Toni Nicole Roberts

We often hear others or even catch ourselves saying, “I’m just going to do me!”

Now, I’m not saying there is anything wrong with planning, preparing, or being an individual; but in doing so, we have to understand the importance, peace, and benefits of being led by the spirit of God.

God loves us so much that He gives us a choice. Yet, He already has an answer that will make life better and lead us to our purpose and destiny in Him. Deuteronomy 30:15-16 (NIV) says “See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase…” So, we have a choice. But, in doing God, a full complete life is guaranteed. John 10:10 (NIV) states “…I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

In our planning, seeking, and desiring more in life, we must believe that God knows what’s best. I have seen the results of doing it “my way” and the setbacks it can create. Today, I encourage you to totally trust God in all things. Switch from doing you to doing God and being led by Him and His spirit in you.
In doing God, we believe and submit to Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) that states ” For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” So, no matter the journey we know when we stop “doing me” and do God we have already won!

Blessings,
