Potter Crafting Pot on Potter's Wheel

Gifted for God’s Purpose

By Valisha McFarlane

“In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” Matthew 5:16 NLT

What will they think of me?

What if I mess up or fail?

What if I am not good enough?

What if I really didn’t hear from God?

Aren’t these the questions that you let skip through your mind when you come up against the opportunity to take a risk? Often when the chance to do something big for God lies before you, you pull back your giftings and hide them.

You must never let the opinions of others override the commands of the Lord. Yes, it is hard to overcome the fear and insecurity that tries to creep in when you are ready for God to stir up new gifts and stretch your ability to utilize your existing ones. But, you are triumphant because of Christ. Take the focus off of you and understand the true benefit, outcome, and value of God working through you and enhancing the gifts He has graciously and uniquely given to you.

There’s a purpose for your skills and talents! Seek God for the bigger picture so you will know the design and plan of how He desires you to use those gifts. When done in excellence and service to the Father, your accomplishments and abilities will shine bright enough for onlookers to conclude, “Glory to God in the highest.”

The Declaration

Father, where would I be without your grace? You have graciously granted me skills, talents, and abilities. I look to you Lord for guidance and direction on how to use them. I declare that I am a God pleaser. I will not esteem the opinions of others or my self-sabotaging thoughts greater than your Word and your purpose. Thank you for the opportunity to light up this world with your goodness. I decree that God will be glorified because I know my divine purposes.

In Jesus name, Amen.
