Is prayer the answer to your problem? Growing up as a young girl, I never knew how simple it was to pray for myself and those around me. All I remember is prayer had to be during church and the deacon had to be the one praying for me. Wow…the simple mind of a child! The truth is prayer could be the missing link to you solving that annoying problem. In this article, we will discuss why prayer is the answer to getting through any tough time in your life.
I can recall when I began praying & seeing results in my life. It was during a really tough time. I was a young mother, a new wife, and new Christian and the world seemed to be crumbling around me. I felt so inadequate and just knew I was failure. I could do absolutely nothing right. Not to mention, I was completely sleep deprived because I did not know how to balance things and I was knee deep in depression. That’s when I got a sudden urge to pray which I rarely did in times past.
Yes, I had a relationship with God that began while I was still in college. Yet, I did what every other new convert does when they do not come under the personal mentorship of a mature person. I learned how to be religious & mimic everything I saw. Now, before you stop reading let me explain…
I watched and modeled whatever I saw. I modeled how others sat in church, what they wore, how they talked, how they worshipped, even how they prayed. Everything was manufactured and was not real. Had I only knew that there was more to this relationship with God than just trying to be someone else.
When life hit me though, I could no longer pretend. I needed an answer and I needed one quickly. I decided to try out this thing called prayer. Although, I was not very good at it at first, I learned that prayer really was what I needed to truly connect to God and get some peace in my life.
When you find yourself in a tough situation, prayer will do the following things for you…
- Give God permission to work in your life. He is waiting to send you an answer and help improve your current situation. But, He will not force His way.
- Increase your desire to have more conversations with God. When you meet someone who understands you and cares about the things that matter most to you, you cannot wait to share more of your life with them. God is that person.
- Give you clarity and direction. Somehow you will find that prayer lets you see your next step even if you went into prayer confused. Stepping away from the trees allows you to see the forest.
- Help relieve the stress associated with your problem. Sometimes the stress of your situation can get to be overwhelming. You can share this load or even get rid of the load by connecting with God through prayer.
What problem is bothering you now that could use some prayer? I would love to pray with you. Just respond in our Facebook community. I’ll be waiting there for you.
