False Evidence Appearing Real equates to fear. Yes, FEAR! This is what has driven me for so many years, I couldn’t move forward or backwards. Not just in one area of my life but every area including my marriage, raising children, and most of all money. In today’s article, I will share with you 3 tips to overcome the fear of money.
Growing up in a single family household with three other siblings, I watched my mother struggle to pay the bills and worry when she couldn’t. I knew this was the beginning of the anxiety I felt with or without money. When I had money, I didn’t want to let it go. And, when I didn’t it, I worried. Yes, it is safe to say money and I were in a love-hate relationship, but just like the “too little clothes in my closet” I had to let it go by trading fear for faith. How did I do this you ask? Let me share these 3 tips that change my entire outlook on money:
Change Your Attitude
Change your attitude about money and material things, by understanding that God gave it as a means to enhance and direct your life not to rule you or hold you in bondage. If you think about it, everything we have belongs to God. We are merely stewards, managers of His property.
Believe in His Word
Trust and believe that God will supply all your needs. He said it in his word…“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19) this is a great scripture to meditate on.
Living above your means can be a factor in the fear associated with money. Use wisdom by limiting your use of credit cards, saving for unforeseen bumps in the road, and only purchase things that are affordable.
