How a Love Coach Taught Me to Reclaim My Confidence—and How You Can Apply This to Your Career

When I found myself single again at the age of 40, the dating world felt like an entirely new universe.

Having married right out of college, I never really learned how to date. In my family, the expectation was simple: find someone you like, and suddenly you’re in a relationship. But after my marriage ended, I realized there was a whole world of dating dynamics I knew nothing about.

That’s when I decided to hire a love coach. I needed guidance, not just to navigate the dating world, but to rebuild my confidence and sharpen my ability to make better choices when it came to matters of the heart.

One of the most impactful lessons I learned from my coach was about energy—the kind of energy you embody can either attract or repel the perfect person for you. My coach taught me that showing up with the right energy was crucial, whether it was for a first date or even a virtual meeting with a potential partner.

So, I developed a dating ritual that helped me get into the right mindset before meeting someone.

A key part of this ritual was creating a playlist of songs that made me feel fully present, fun, flirty, and ready for some playful banter. My playlist included tracks like “Softest Place on Earth,” “Motivation,” and “Try A Little Tenderness.” Some songs sparked my feminine energy, while others brought back happy memories, reminding me of my favorite things. This playlist wasn’t just music; it was a tool to create a positive internal feeling—an essential factor when connecting with others.

Now, you might be wondering how this story relates to you, especially if you’re a female engineer navigating your career.

I’m glad you asked!

If you’re struggling to embody the right energy that allows you to show up powerfully and confidently at work, consider starting your day with a morning ritual. Just like my dating playlist, create a music playlist that you can listen to on your way to the office or while getting ready in the morning.

Choose songs that:

  • Bring back fun memories from your childhood or a girls' night out.

  • Motivate you and elevate your energy.

  • Instantly put a smile on your face.

This simple practice can help you show up as your true self—confident, full of energy, and radiating positivity.

So, what would your playlist look like? If you’re curious about my full playlist for love and attraction, just send me a message, and I’ll be happy to share!
